Telecommunication Equipments

What is Telegraph Workshop
At the time Independence all the telecommunication production facilities were left behind in India. The signal workshop of North Western Railway 🚂 at Lahore could not caster for requirements of Pakistan Post & Telegraph Department. A workshop was established at Kotri near Hyderabad in 1948 to produce line materials and telegraph apperntus. The production of this workshop was also ships to the Eastern Wing from Karachi. This workshop had a big galvanizing plant. The workshop still exist but with reduced range of production. A similar workshop was also established at Dhaka ( now Bangladesh ) in 1956- 1957.
The Telegraph invention
The invention of the telegraph is credited to Samuel Morse, who developed the electromagnetic telegraph system in the 1830s. This invention revolutionized long-distance communication by transmitting coded messages over wires using electric signals. Telephone ☎️ Industry Of Pakistan
An agreement was signed in 1952 with M/s Siemens of Germany for established Telephone Industry of Pakistan ( T I P ) at Haripur. The production of telephone equipment was commenced in 1955. By the end of 1957 the factory was producing entire range of manual and automatic telephone exchange ( step by step type) equipment. Through a supplementary agreement in 1958 the production started in 1960. The manufacturer of the Telex (Teleprinters Exchange) and requirement transmission equipment was also done. In 1962 TIP also produce equipment for Railway Signaling .

The telephone industry in Pakistan has seen significant growth and development over the years. Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) is the largest provider of telecommunication services in the country, offering landline, broadband, and wireless services. Additionally, there are several mobile operators such as Jazz (formerly Mobilink), Telenor Pakistan, Zong, and Ufone, providing cellular services to millions of subscribers. The industry has undergone privatization and deregulation, leading to increased competition and improved services for consumers. Mobile penetration rates have soared, with millions of Pakistanis now using smartphones and accessing various telecom services.
M/s Siemens Agreements
Some electronic components required for equipment like carbon resistors and styroflex capacitors were also manufacturer. Planning and installation group was organized and construction of exchanges was done by the TIP staff.
The local manufacturer of tape and page Teleprinters was commenced in 1963 in collaboration with M/s Siemens. There was produced in the 1966-1967 period.
An additional agreement was signed with M/s Siemens in 1963 for local manufacturer of rotary motion selector switching equipment and the production facilities were enhanced Electronic Teleprinters were also produced in 1982. The TIP also developed a 100-300 lines rural exchange with STD ( Subscriber trunk Dialing) facility. As a diversification measure production of type writer and electricity energy meters was also done.
In 1987 another agreement was signed with M/s Siemens for local manufacturer of digital electronic Telephone exchanges in TIP. Mobile container type of exchanges of up to 1000 lines are also being produced by TIP.
A telephone ☎️ factory at Tongi in Dhaka and cable factory at Khulna (Bangladesh) were also established in the year 1967.
The was established in 1948 through an agreement with M/s Siemens. The factory was built in the industrial area (sector 9) of Islamabad and production of electronic components like transisters selenium rectifiers diodes and capacitors was commenced. The part of Analog transmission equipment required for microwave systems was manufacturer in CTI. The spur route UHF (ultra high frequency)

NRTC was established in the year 1966 at Haripur to meet the radio communication equipment demand of the ministry of defence. The production was started in 1967. In additional to Mobile Radio equipment NRTC also produced battery eliminators and rectifier. Single channel VHF equipment was manufactured in NRTC
Haripur. This factory was the best environmental testing facilities for electronic equipment. The installation work of rural telecommunication systems was also undertaken by the NRTC teams.
ALCATEL factory
In 1990 an agreement was signed by PTC with M/s ALCATEL for establishing a digital switching Telephone factory at Islamabad. M/s ALCATEL acquired a site and some local facility was developed.
Pakistan cables Limited
The factory is established at Hub Industrial Trading Estate in Baluchistan and is producing telephone ☎️ cables of various type and sizes. Earlier a cable factory established in public sector at Khulna ( CIP cables industry of Pakistan) in the then East Pakistan ( now Bangladesh) went into production in 1971.
Indoor telecommunication cables and small capacity aerial cables are also being produced by a number of entities in Karachi and Lahore.
A factory for optical cables has been established near Wah in Rawalpindi Division. Small PABX and Telephone instruments are also being manufacturer by many entities.
